Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

NWI is committed to safe and effective imaging. Our equipment provides you with:

  • More enhanced and detailed images
  • Greater table weight capacity
  • A more comfortable experience

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI or MR) combines a powerful magnet with an advanced computer system and radio waves to produce accurate, detailed pictures of organs and tissues to diagnose various medical conditions.

The strength of an MRI magnet is called "field strength" and is measured in Tesla or "T". The term "High-field MRI" is used when the scanners field strength is 1T or above. Benefits of high-field scanners include the ability to see smaller details of your body and shorter scan times.

Images from our high-field MRI scanner are read by our specialized radiologists – doctors with advanced training in reading imaging studies of the body part you are having examined – so you can feel confident you are receiving an accurate diagnosis. Our technologists who operate the scanner are certified in MRI and will communicate with you throughout your scan.

Our MRI Equipment

Our extra-wide short bore Siemens Magnetom Aera MRI combines open MRI features with 1.5 Tesla High-field quality images. This system yields true 6'9" long, seamless, whole body anatomical coverage, with no coil reconfiguration. We offer brain imaging, breast imaging, neck and spine, vascular, lower and upper extremity exams, all with a 550 pound table capacity.
